Clarity Stamps Challenge

A Christmas Story

Here is my attempt at this months Clarity Stamps Challenge.

I've used the Groovi Plate which I recently treated myself to at the Birmingham craft show. It was fab seeing Barbara and all the clarity team showing us some amazing demonstrations and loads of inspiration.

I hope you like my attempt.

Thanks for looking and Happy Christmas

Sparkly Shaped Card

Hi All

I would like to share with you a flowery, sparkly shaped card that opens and extend to reveal the sentiment.

Closed: 145cm x 145cm
Opened: 334cm x 145cm

I used a die for the corners to shape the card.

I used the Trellis Clarity stencil, applying Classic Stampin' Inks with the stencil brushes. I also used white pigment ink to highlight some areas before dotting glitter/stickles along these areas.

I spritz the voile in green and used the heat gun to speed up the drying time.

For the flowers I used the Agapanthus and Daisies Claritystamps with the Pansy punch, adding black gems in the middle.

I made the background first then cut it up to fit the different panels inside. I used the Tree Branch stamp through the stencil before dotting with a yellow sparkly Sakura gel pen along the leaves to add more bling.

I couldn't decide on the sentiment but then finally saw this and I thought it fits to all the blogs, challenges and products I use as well as to what I aspire to when I create my projects.

I used WoW! Silver Dollar embossing powder on tracing paper so the background can still be seen through. I then traced the sentiment from the back with Stampin' Markers before cutting around it.

I'm really pleased with the card but it's not as striking and sparkly on the photos. I guess I need to get the lighting better next time!

Shadow Box Frame

Hi All

I've been meaning to show you the frame I made for the Blue, Bubbles & Shell project below which I created a couple of months ago.

We didn't have any frames to hand and haven't had time to get one so I decided to make one out of card based on Amanda Bates' tutorial from The Craft Spa.

From playing around with measurements, to have an inch border, add 7" from the measurement of the card. The card is 7"x7" so to have an inch border I needed a 14"x14" black card which I didn't have so I used 5 different sections to build up the frame:
7"x7" (Section A), 4"x9" (x4 - Section B, C, D & E)

With the 4" on top, score all the 4"x9" cards at 0.5", 1.5", 2", 3", 3.5"
Turn clockwise to have the 9" on top and MARK at 1.5" and 7.5" do not score all the way down!
Score from the mark to the 1.5" score line - creating a corner triangle.
Cut these triangles out and Sections B & C are ready.
For the Sections D & E, with the other 9" on top:
Score at 1" and 8" down to an inch
Score diagonally from the bottom of the above score line to the edge of the card an inch down.
Cut out these sections.

Now to assemble the frame, start with Section A as the base and adhere Sections B & C on top and bottom.
Then add Sections D & E on the sides.

Hope this makes sense and is helpful to those who wants to do bigger Shadow Box Frames.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting.

Happy 30th Birthday

Hi All

Hope your having a great weekend so far. I want to share a card I made for my sister's boyfriend who are both in Brussels celebrating his 30th birthday this weekend.

The card is inspired by Amanda Bates at The Craft Spa. I altered the measurements to fit the card base I had which was 148 x 296 and I trimmed it down to 144mm x 288mm so its divisible to 24mm.

The Stampin' Trimmer is great for this type of card as you can cut in the middle of the card with ease AND score as well...definitely a great tool to have!

Other products used:
Papermania Papers
Classic Stampin' Pads
Age Awareness Stamps
Bow Builder Punch
Little Numbers Thinlits
Black Gems from stash

I am entering this card to the following challenges:

Flowers, Stamps & Glitters (Winner in Crafty Carmakers and More; Top 5 in Claritystamp Challenge, Yay!)

Hi All

I got truly spoilt from family and friends, so I'd like to thank everyone for the birthday greetings and presents. I had a lovely day and received a lot of crafty goodies, one of which is a pack of Color Burst. I couldn't wait to try it out and here's the project I made...

9.5" x 7" Blue Centura Card
7.75" x 5.25" Black Paper
7.5" x 5" Watercolour Paper

I randomly applied Color Burst on an A4 watercolour paper and sprayed water all over. I was surprised how much colour appeared as I didn't think there was much powders there! The random background created inspired to make this scene, using Basic Gray Archival Ink, a stamp from Wee Folk No.1, 'Remember' stamp from Word Chain No.5 and the Forest Ridge stamp on half of the A4 paper.

I used torn papers for the hills and circle paper for the sun as masks before applying dye inks with the Clarity Stencil Brushes. I used the 2nd generation technique with the Forest Ridge stamp to create a lighter image and add depth. Once I was happy with the whole image, I used Gold and Stardust Stickles.

I wanted to put something on the border so I used the Tree Branch stamp with Opaque Embossing Powder, then coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol pen. I stuck some dried flowers and natural fibres under the flowers which were punched from the rest of the watercolour paper.

The flowers were very easy to achieve. The Pansy punched flowers; I cut a bit towards the centre where the petals join, press ball tool in the centre and curl the petals outwards. The Petite Petals and Itty Bitty flowers were just pressed in the centre with a ball tool before adding Silver Stickles.

I am very pleased with how this project turned out and love using the Color Burst. I would like to enter this to the following challenges:

Blue, Bubbles and Shells - Claritystamp

Hi All

Another post on a new card?! I'm just trying to make up for the 3 weeks I didn't post anything as we were busy with orders, our other blog and classes.

Anyways, hope you're week is going well so far and here is the card I am sharing using Seashell Claritystamp.

Blue Centura Pearl 17.4cm x 17.4cm
Silver Centura Pearl 13.5cm x 13.5 cm
Watercolour Paper 12.9cm x 12.9 cm
Blue Centura Pearl 7cm x 7cm

For the outer frame, I randomly stamped the image using Perfect Medium pad then applied Mica Powders after.

I used the Clarity stencil brush to apply distress inks through the border of Circles Box Frame stencil on the watercolour paper. Once I was happy with the colours, I took off the stencil and spritz a little water and smudge the colours onto the white areas of the paper to soften the outlines of the 'bubbles'.

To add highlights on the bubbles, I used Craft Stampin' pigment pad, Silver and White acrylic paints with daubers and paintbrush.

I was left with a stark white middle which I didn't like and continued to use distress inks, mica powders and glitter.

I wasn't happy with the result as it blended too much with the border so I used silver Sharpie pen and grey pigment pen to outline the inner frame. I was still undecided with the outcome so I decided to change it by using the blue centura pearl paper.

I stamped the Shell image with Archival Ink, traced inside the image with Versamarker (trying not to go over the shell outlines), before applying Mica Powders again. To finish off the card, I used foam pads to raise each layer and added the four gems.

Lavinia Stamps

Hi All

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today I am sharing a card using Lavinia stamps, I wanted to create something different using the stamps we had and here's the result.

White Card 14cm x 14cm
Silver Centura Pearl 14.7cm x 14.7cm

For the main image, I started with the Silhouette House Pods, bending the stalks to form the ring. I used the end of the Ivy to add foliage around the stalks. Finally I used Stampin' Marker to selectively colour the Spider's Web so I didn't have to use a mask to cover the pods.

I used the same stamps and colours on a 1cm x 14cm strip of paper before folding it to create the tiny flower. Isn't it cute? I wanted the focus on the main image so to finish the card I just added a strip of ribbon and a couple of gems.

What sentiment or occasion do you think fits the image?

Indigoblu Stamps - Flutterby

Hi All

I want to share with you a card using Indigoblu stamps. I really like how the stamped images makes it look like you are lying on the ground.

Watercolour Paper 13cm x 13cm
Silver Centura Pearl 13.4cm x 13.4cm
Black Card 14cm x 14cm

Background was created by applying inks on a craft mat and spritzing water. Thanks to Sally-Jo for reminding me how great  this technique is!

I used a circle mask and Craft Stampin' Pad (pigment ink) to create the moon. I then heat embossed the butterfly using Perfect Medium with opaque embossing powder, coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens after.

I am also entering this card to the following challenges:
Indigoblu Blog Challenge - 29 Flutterby
