Canvas Board

I decided to make something with a Spring/Easter theme using more of our acrylic paints on canvas board. I wasn't too sure on what the outcome was going to be so I needed a base that was able to withstand a lot of layers.

I am entering this to the following challenges:
Claritystamp Challenge Blog - 25 Anything But A Card
Deep Ocean Challenge Blog - 100 Easter/Spring and Celebration
Crafter's Cafe Challenge Blog - 109 Spring Flowers
Craft Your Passion Challenges - 254 Anything Goes
Crafting From The Heart- 52 Anything Goes
Crafty Cardmakers and More - 135 Spring Has Sprung

I looked at what Claritystamp stencils we had and decided to use the Woodland stencil first. I stippled cerulean blue paint on the top right and phthalo green on the bottom left, mixing with white at the centre. Due to the board texture, the edges were not very sharp but I didn't mind as I was going to add more paint. I applied white paint with a palette knife by lightly dabbing the flat surface of the knife to create more textures. Once dried, I then applied lime green paint on the raised areas which looked like veins of a leaf.

I used phthalo green again with the Floral Heart stencil on the bottom left and stopping halfway. I also painted a corrugated card and pressed it on the top left but wasn't too successful. I could see the outline of the Woodland stencil so I decided to use the inner stencil to colour the branches with burnt sienna. I then used Spectrum Noir to sharpen the edges a little and add a bit of shading before thinly applying white paint all over.

Whilst waiting for the paints to dry, I stamped 4 Daisies on a piece of white paper. I stuck 1 on the board with white paint and then coloured, cut and shaped 3 but leaving these to one side for later. I then used the Agapanthus stamp on the bottom left of the board with Archival ink.

I used the Eggs stencil with a glue gun, went around the edges first then lifted the stencil off before filling in the centre as I wasn't sure if I could get the stencil off the board once dried. I wanted a bit more colour so I sprayed yellow Aquatint with Mica powders which worked on the board but not on the eggs like I hoped for. I tried the acrylic paint on the dried glue and it worked so I thickly painted the eggs with white and the centre of the board.

I played with the glue gun a bit more, adding the squiggly lines and the branches, coloured with burnt sienna and sanded down. The eggs were still wet so I wiped the excess off and added more glue on top. Barry suggested to use more Mica powders using the VersaMarker on the eggs which I did and was very happy with the result.

I made a bow using natural grass, added nail caviar, moss and the stamped Daisies around the board. I also dotted around green and white pen before adding Glossy Accents in the centre of the daisies. Due to the amount of layers, you could hardly see some of the stencils used but I think it adds to the texture of the whole image.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking.

Lavinia Stamps Challenge

Add some Gems

Here is my attempt at the add some gems challenge for Lavinia Stamps. Its quite a simple card but affective. I hope you all like it.

Mother's Day Cards

Here are the Mother's Day cards we've made this year:

I have used the Humming Bird stencil from Glitzcraft along with the translucent paste from Sweet Poppy through the stencil before adding different colours of glitter. The colour panel was my first attempt at doing the Caught in Crystal technique with floor polish and Aqua Tints. I really like the way this has come out and will be trying this again.
Whilst all of this dries I made the flowers. The flower stamps are from HoneyDoo Crafts and are stamped onto Vellum. I've then heat embossed in white and then coloured with Spectrum Noir Pens before shaping and layering up. Once everything was dry I've mat and layered the pieces onto Anna Marie Designs Red & Gold Pearl paper.
Its now time to assemble. For some extra finishing touches I have used some Natural Moss and Stamens from Anna Marie Designs between the flowers and some gems in the top corner.

Docrafts paper pierced around the border, matt and layered on peach card before adding the organza ribbon in the middle.
For the topper, I cut and embossed the Creative Expression Die on Anna Marie Designs Centura Pearl card then used another peach card for the backing. I then lightly embossed an off cut of white paper with the same die but just in the middle so I can fussy cut around the edges. The sentiment was then stamped with Versafine, stuck on the topper with foam pads before the whole topper was stuck on with more foam pads.
The flowers were made with the same technique mentioned on the previous post and I also made the bead pins. I tied Tulle in a bow then added waxed cord on top. The gems were coloured with Spectrum Noir.

The flower stamps are from Honeydoo Crafts which were stamped with Distress Inks, using the masking technique on some areas. I then stamped the flowers on white paper, fussy cut around the design, curled each petals then layered on top of each other. I applied Stickles on the edges of the flowers, once dried I then added Liquid Pearls in the centre of the small flowers and a coloured gem on the big one.

Another version of my mum's birthday I shared before using the same layout but with more products:

New Fonts

UPDATE: I have changed the Header again after designing a logo in Inkscape using the Calgary font which is also available on ScanNCut Canvas.

I've been playing around with different fonts and chosen the following from Google Fonts:

Blog Header - Ruthie
Post Title - Architect's Daughter
Blog Post - Handlee

I changed these via the Template - Edit HTML which was time consuming as I am not familiar with CSS coding. I've tried to change the Mobile setting too but I can't seem to change the Post Title font on the Home Page :( Next time I'll choose fonts from the Blogger Template Designer to keep things simpler.

What do you think of these fonts?

Nephew's Birthday Cards

Hi All

Just wanted to share these birthday cards I made for my nephew last week, from myself, my sister and parents.

The main images are from coloured with Spectrum Noir alcohol pens. The website is great for kids' cards so check it out.

This is my favourite. I wouldn't normally embellish a card this much for kids due to H&S issues but I knew my sister wouldn't mind. I did this card after our visit to Farnborough Make It Craft Show where I got the stamens and moss from Anna Marie Designs. I also used gauze which I thought was quite fitting.

Hi All

Hope you all had a great weekend. The Make It Craft Show in Farnborough was great fun and we bought so much things to play with that we're still trying to find home for them! I guess that's the consequence of going for 3 days.

I made these flowers Friday night after seeing Gwyneth's demo from Pink Frog Crafts & Cards using Britannia Multiflower Rose Die. Gwyneth made different types of flowers using the same die which is on their new book - Grow Your Own With Britannia Flower Dies Book

Before getting the die I decided to play around with what we already have at home (Creative Expression Classic Rose Die). I also made my own stamens from crochet thread and Liquid Pearls (also played with PVA, nail caviar and micro beads) and here are the results.

Not as good as Gwyneth's but I quite like them. What do you think?

Other products used:
Anna Marie Designs Centura Pearl Papers

I'll share the card I used these for tomorrow. Thanks to Gwyneth for the demo and thank you for looking.
